Gorgeous boy Felix was found as a battered stray cat in the summer of 2024. He was unneutered and suffering with abscesses and infected ears.
We neutered him and treated his wounds but didn’t have space for him at the time so the person who found him agreed to care for him temporarily until a space was found. It was only a short term solution but it kept Felix safe.
Felix, unsurprisingly, tested positive for FIV which means his immune system is under attack. It is safer for FIV cats not to roam freely and risk infecting other cats by getting into fights, but also it is safer for them to have less contact with other cats to risk picking up other kinds of infections like cat flu.
(FIV+ cats can live alongside non FIV cats where they get along well. The vast majority of infections come from males fighting for territory or from them biting females when they mate. Studies have shown that this risks of FIV spreading between friendly cats in the same household are negligible).
Felix is a gorgeous boy who loves cuddles and totally deserves a home of his own. He needs to have a broken canine tooth removed in the near future but apart from that, this beautiful, cuddly, chilled out boy is doing so much better.
Update 2
We are absolutely delighted to say that yesterday he went to his lovely foster home, where he can stay until he is sorted out, and if he’s a good boy (we think he’s an excellent boy 🥰) we hope he will be able to stay indefinitely ❤️🐾
He has gained a bit of weight from no longer roaming as a stray and staying indoors in a small space, but his new mum and dad will keep an eye on his diet and encourage exercise in the house.
Update 3
Felix has found a long term foster home and is enjoying the most amazing life. His foster mum and dad have been incredibly kind and paid for his dentals and we are now hoping his mouth settles after a post op infection.
Felix is now enjoying the love and care he so deserves, and it melts our hearts to see him so happy. We hope he has lots more happy times ahead with his wonderful mum and dad
